Our Wines

For more than 30 years the Perelada winery and gardens have been home to a large community of storks that are now part of the landscape that surrounds our winegrowers. This gentle and enveloping wine is elaborated with the sensitivity with which we welcome them.

In 1998, a pair of white storks nested for the first time in the gardens of the Castell de Peralada, marking the beginning of a reintroduction project led by the Suqué Mateu family in collaboration with the Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l'Empordà. Since then, the colony has grown to around thirty pairs, raising about fifty chicks each year.

The success in protecting these birds inspired the creation of Cigonyes, a range of wines that celebrates both the species and Perelada's commitment to biodiversity.

Made from native grape varieties, these wines stand out for their fruity, fresh, light, and approachable profile.

Cigonyes Blanc

Cigonyes Blanc is a fresh, aromatic and lively wine, conceived as a tribute to the nature of the Empordà and to the project to protect and reintroduce storks in this privileged setting. It reflects Perelada’s commitment to conserving the landscape and its biodiversity.

Pale yellow with greenish hints, it stands out for its fresh fruit aromas and soft floral notes. On the palate it is broad and enveloping, with a lively acidity that brings freshness. A balanced, persistent wine with a gentle finish.

Cigonyes Negre

Cigonyes Negre celebrates the protection and reintroduction of storks in the Empordà. It is an intense, balanced wine that expresses the richness and vitality of the landscape around it.

Deep cherry red with violet nuances, it offers red and black fruit aromas accompanied by subtle notes of barrel ageing. On the palate it is flavourful, structured and fresh, with round tannins and a long, enveloping finish.

Cigonyes Rosat

Cigonyes Rosat is an elegant, expressive wine inspired by the nature of the Empordà and by the protection of storks in this unique setting. A fresh, fruity rosé, made to convey harmony and delicacy.

Very pale, bright salmon pink, it shows red-fruit aromas and soft spiced notes with a delicate floral background. On the palate it is round, fresh and enveloping, with good structure and a long, pleasant, persistent finish.
