Homage

You are here

Over the decades, Peralada wines have graced the tables of many historical figures, having the honor of being selected for banquets of great social significance. The tribute wines pay homage to some of these remarkable personalities.

Don Miguel Mateu

Miguel Mateu was a singular personality, combining his talent for business and politics with an admirable sensitivity to art and culture. His unique character also shaped his approach to winemaking. Peralada has inherited this sensitivity, which continues to guide the winery today, and proudly honors its founder with a Gran Reserva that bears his name.

Torre Galatea

Salvador Dalí and Miguel Mateu, entrepreneur, cultural patron, and founder of Peralada, shared a close friendship throughout their lives. The world-renowned Empordà painter often visited the castle his friend acquired in 1923, where he painted and delivered occasional speeches. Peralada and the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation honor this friendship with Torre Galatea Reserva, a wine that expresses the essence of the Empordà, its soils and climate, an environment that inspired much of the artist’s masterful work. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Peralada Torre Galatea Reserva is donated to the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation.

Reina Fabiola

On December 15, 1960, after a year-long courtship kept almost entirely secret, the King of Belgium surprised Europe by marrying the Spanish Fabiola de Mora y Aragón. To celebrate the occasion, a Peralada Gran Reserva was chosen. In memory of these monarchs of unquestionable international prestige, we continue to produce the wine Baldó y Fabiola with the same label originally used.
